Kyrie Irving Trade Rumors Change Lakers Championship Odds
Per BetMGM data analyst John Ewing, the Lakers championship odds coming into the day were set at +4000. They’re now all the way up to +2000 following the Kyrie Irving trade rumors linking him to LA.
Per the LA Times, the Lakers are currently considering the possibility of going after Irving.
“According to people with knowledge of the situation, the Lakers are interested in Irving, LeBron James’ former teammate with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
In addition to the Lakers, the Dallas Mavericks, the Phoenix Suns and the Miami Heat are possible trade partners with the Nets, according to multiple people. Irving, who makes $36.5 million, has been unable to reach a contract extension with the Nets and is set to be a free agent at the end of the season,” the Times’ Friday story read.
Iriving was LeBron James‘ point guard when the Cleveland Cavaliers won the 2016 NBA Championship, but the two reportedly had a falling out the following season. Irving and James have seemingly squashed any beef, and have even expressed their desire to play together once again.
“Whenever he decides to play [until], I’m enjoying the show, ” Irving said when talking about James this season, per Marca. “And I wish we could have gotten a chance to play against one another but who knows what can happen down the line?”
