Check out the Bucks next head coach odds, per DraftKings Sportsbook:
The Bucks' brass says they are casting a wide net of potential head coach candidates and will be keeping Antetokounmpo in the loop and will involve the superstar in the decision-making process.
“As we dive into the process and it evolves, obviously it becomes more narrow, but at this point, everything is, and should be, on the table,” general manager Jon Horst told reporters, per The Athletic. “We’re very much in a phase of gathering and collecting and who’s interested and what that very large candidate pool can be and then we’ll work from there.”
So far, it has been reported that the Bucks have sent out interview requests for former Warriors coach Mark Jackson, Warriors associate head coach Kenny Atkinson, former Washington Wizards and Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Scott Brooks, Toronto Raptors top assistant Adrian Griffin, Milwaukee associate HC Charles Lee and ex-Hornets coach James Borrego. There are believed to be many more interview requests in the coming days.
Nurse won the 2019 title with the Raptors and is highly regarded as one of the better tacticians around the game. He is reportedly getting interest from the Phoenix Suns after they recently let go of Williams.
Williams was fired on Saturday after the Suns were bounced by the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs. He posted a 194-115 record and won NBA Coach of the Year in 2022. The tenure was highlighted by a trip to the 2021 finals when Phoenix finished runner-up to Antetokounmpo's Bucks. It was at this time that Giannis developed a mutual respect for Williams, and the star forward even invited Williams into the locker room after winning the championship to pay his respects.
"It was an amazing moment. He came up to me and told me, “Congrats.” And he’s a great coach. He got the best out of this team," Antetokounmpo said at the time, per NBC Sports.
The Bucks' head coaching search figures to be a long process. But based on the latest Bucks next head coach odds, Monty Williams and Nick Nurse are names to keep an eye on as they begin to conduct interviews with candidates.
