Steph Curry OK for Back to Back for Warriors Against Wizards on Monday

Steph Curry is expected to play again Monday afternoon when the Golden State Warriors are at the Washington Wizards after he scored 20 points in a 132-118 loss at the Chicago Bulls on Sunday. The latest Steph Curry injury news comes with the guard seemingly fully recovered from the left shoulder subluxation that sidelined him for 11 games.

“We’ll see how he comes out after each game but there are no restrictions at all,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said before the game Sunday, according to NBC Sports Bay Area.

But Golden State will be without Klay Thompson on Monday as he will rest as he continues to work his way back to full strength from knee surgery. He scored 26 points Sunday.

“We do feel like there’s going to be a time where he can play back to backs,” Kerr said. “I think it’s unlikely on this trip, given that he had the knee soreness last week …”

The Warriors opened the five-game road trip Friday with a 144-113 win at the San Antonio Spurs. The game at the Alamodome set an NBA attendance record of 68,323.

“It was awesome,” Curry told ESPN. “… It was awesome to experience and it just takes 64,000 to bring our best road performance of the year.”

It broke the record of 62,046, set March 27, 1998 when the Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls played the Atlanta Hawks at the Georgia Dome. The all-time NBA record is 108,713 for the 2010 NBA All-Star Game, which was played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, according to CBS Sports.

Sunday was Curry’s third game since returning from the injury sustained Dec. 14. He is averaging 19.5 points in those games, well below his average of 30.3 at the time of the injury.

The Warriors started the trip with a 3-16 road record this season. Compared to their 17-5 home record, that .615 difference in home/road winning percentage would be the third-worst in NBA history, if it continued, according to The Mercury News.

“We have to play desperate on the road to beat the teams that are coming up on the schedule, and again, rectify the way that we’ve been playing throughout the season on the road,” Steph Curry told the newspaper last week.

The trip of five games in eight days continues at the Boston Celtics on Thursday and at the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday. The Warriors visit the White House on Tuesday to be honored for their 2021-22 NBA championship.

“Excited about just the celebration of what we did last year,” Curry told NBC Sports Bay Area. “It’s kind of like the one last moment to reflect on the accomplishment.”

Last season, the Warriors were 22-19 on the road, and they have not been under .500 away from home in a full 82-game season since 2012-13 (19-22).

The Warriors are third to last in the NBA in defensive rating on the road (119.3) but are fourth at home (107.8). On offense, they are 17th on the road (111.5) and 18th at home (114.0).

“The margin for error that you have at home, you don’t have near that margin of error when you’re on the road,” Warriors forward Draymond Green told NBC Sports Bay Area. “And I personally don’t think we’ve adjusted to that well throughout the season.”

The Golden State Warriors (21-22) are eighth in the Western Conference.
