Suns-Warriors Player Prop: Best Bet for Devin Booker

The Phoenix Suns have functionally ruled out Bradley Beal for Tuesday’s Opening Night game. Likewise, the Golden State Warriors have already ruled out Draymond Green. Devin Booker is probable with a toe injury, but the issue seems minor and details are scarce. Booker was able to practice on both Sunday and Monday, but then again, so was Beal.

With Chris Paul now on the opposite side of the floor, it’ll be up to Booker and Durant to operate as the primary ball-handlers. It’s unclear who the Suns will start in Beal’s place, especially with Damion Lee sidelined, but Eric Gordon and Jordan Goodwin are possible options.

Booker should find a way to dish out at least seven assists. He dished out 6.5 assists per game without Paul last year, including a nine-assist performance against the Warriors. He also averaged 6.8 assists per game in the eight regular-season starts he made alongside Durant. He averaged only 5.7 assists per game against Golden State but had a median of seven.

Booker has some new teammates to dish out passes to as well. New to Phoenix are Grayson Allen, a three-point specialist, and Jusuf Nurkic, a big man who can do damage both in the paint and from beyond the arc. Yuta Watanabe and Keita Bates-Diop could be solid assets for Booker to pass out to as well.

Early numbers suggest this could be a pace-up spot for Phoenix as well. Golden State ranked seventh in pace in the preseason. The Warriors led the league in pace last year, which helped Booker average 31 points against them across three regular-season meetings. With a backcourt full of shaky defenders, I expect Booker to cook on Tuesday night.

The betting markets are fluid on Booker, but, as of publication, Booker’s points and assist prop was trading at 34.5 across the market. He recorded totals of 41, 36 and 33 against Golden State last season. I don’t think Booker’s to injury is severe enough to limit him, and I trust him to at least reach his mean performance against Golden State last year.
