Trail Blazers Make Underdog History With Timberwolves Win

Per B/R Betting, the 19.5-point spread was the highest of any team that would win up losing since the 1995 season.

DraftKings Sportsbook had the Trail Blazers closed as a 12-1 underdog just before tip on Saturday. In the end, it was a short-handed Trail Blazers team who were able to get the last laugh against the Timberwolves, who really needed a win to boost their playoff race.

The T-Wolves (39-40) hold the ninth spot in the Western Conference and would be forced to participate in the play-in tournament if the season were to end today.

Anthony Edwards scored 37 points for a reeling Timberwolves team and seemed to have the team cruising to an easy and expected win on Saturday. An Edwards dunk in the third quarter gave Minnesota an 84-72 lead but they quickly surrendered a 19-4 run to the Blazers in the fourth quarter and were not able to take the lead back again.

Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch admitted his team is all out of sorts on the offensive end following the baffling defeat.

“Yeah, definitely our rhythm is gone. You know, I think our shot distribution is out of whack a little bit. I think guys are maybe in their feelings a little bit, trying to figure it out,” he said, per Wolves writer Jack Borman.

The Timberwolves better ‘figure it out’ before too long. Because the season is quickly coming to an end, and they could not be trending in a worse direction. The Timberwolves-Trail Blazers betting odds and moneyline show there was some history to Saturday’s loss. And when push comes to shove, it might end up being the lasting image of another disappointing season in the Twin Cities.
