It is shaping up to be an incredible series between the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings. The Warriors opened as the betting favorites to win the series and continue in their pursuit of a second consecutive NBA championship. But the Kings are looking to play spoiler and were able to get off to a hot start Saturday. The updated Warriors-Kings series betting odds still show the defending champs as the favorites, but the Kings are on the rise after pulling out a Game 1 thriller.
Updated Warriors-Kings Series Betting Odds: Warriors Still Favored
Per BetMGM, the Warriors opened as high -300 betting favorites to get past the Kings (+210), but Sacramento’s line is on the rise. Now, the Warriors (-155) are still favored, but the Kings (+135) are showing alike that they could be a real threat to end the Warriors dynasty.
With the Kings fans making for an electric atmosphere throughout Game 1, guard De’Aaron Fox showed out, scoring a game-high 38 points to lead Sacramento to its first playoff win since 2006.
“Sacramento showed out tonight,” Fox said, per ESPN. “But doing this for the fans, just knowing the way that they support this team through thick and thin — really thin. It’s just a testament to the way they are.”
Fox scored 29 of his points in the second half, leading the comeback win and proving himself as one of the best scorers in the NBA Playoffs. The 39 points were the second most by a player making his playoff debut — Luka Doncic dropped 42 in his first playoff game three years ago.
“You need guys like that on your side because they know everything that we’re throwing at them,” Kings coach Mike Brown said. “There’s no secrets. You have to have guys on your team that can go make plays, and Foxy went and made plays tonight.”
Fox led the charge in Game 1, and the Kings were able to make a statement, but they will need more heroic performances throughout the series to complete the upset.
The latest Warriors-Kings series betting odds show sportsbooks are still favoring Golden State. But after Game 1, it is clear that it will not be easy for the Warriors to get past this Kings team.
