There are still four relevant games for Western Conference playoff seeding, including the Warriors’ Sunday afternoon tilt with the Portland Trail Blazers. All the Warriors need to do is win that game, and they will be guaranteed either the fifth or sixth seed for the playoffs, thus avoiding next week’s Play-In Tournament.

Sorting through the 16 different Western Conference NBA Playoff scenarios can be a mind-numbing experience. Warriors fans will just have to hope Golden State can get the job done against a lowly opponent. If they win and the Clippers beat the Suns, they will be locked into the sixth seed (the most likely scenario). If they win and the Clippers lose, they will move all the way up to the fifth seed.
“It’s the only thing that we can control,” Golden State coach Steve Kerr said about winning Sunday, per Sky Sports. “There’s other games that can factor in, but it doesn’t matter to us as long as we win. That’s a great position to be in and we’ve got to go do something about it.”
The only way the Lakers can avoid the Play-In and steal the Warriors’ spot is if Golden State loses and Los Angeles beats the Utah Jazz on Sunday.
Per DraftKings Sportsbook, the Warriors (-1800) are a heavy favorite to defeat the Damian Lillard-less Trail Blazers and advance to the NBA Playoffs. But they have shown some vulnerability throughout the season and could get exposed, even with their veteran presence.
