We sit at 3-5 (-2u) on college baseball bets this season, but today’s board gives us a great chance to bounce back. Nebraska Cornhuskers at Grand Canyon Antelopes

The Nebraska Cornhuskers begin a four-game road series against the Grand Canyon Antelopes on Thursday. The ‘Lopes will start RHP Daniel Avitia, who also started their first game of the season. The Huskers will start RHP Drew Christo, who they have only used as a reliever this season. Christo has just three previous collegiate starts.
We’ve got a massive disparity in pitching quality today, and it’s not quite reflected by the odds. Avitia owns a 1.50 ERA through six innings pitched this season with 7.5 K/9. He recorded a 1.63 ERA and 7.8 K/9 over 27.2 innings in Cape Cod this summer after recording a 3.92 ERA and 8.8 K/9 in 82.2 innings for GCU last year. He is a borderline top-100 prospect for this year’s MLB Draft.
Opposite Avitia is Christo, who owns a 9.00 ERA and 9 K/9 through two innings pitched this year. Christo recorded a 3.24 ERA and 9.7 K/9 over 16.2 innings pitched for Nebraska last season. He made only one start. Over the summer, Christo recorded a 3.38 ERA and 11.2 K/9 over 34.2 innings pitched in the Alaska League, and while those numbers are solid, the competition pales in comparison to what Avitia faced in Cape Cod.
The ‘Lopes are trading between -160 and -165 to win this one outright. They own odds of +100 to cover the run line of 1.5 at BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel but are +115 to do so at Hard Rock. The +100 is a good enough price for me, but if you’re able to lock this one in for the extra juice, make sure to do so. I put 1.5 units on Hard Rock’s off-market number.
