College Baseball Odds, Pick & Prediction Today

Florida Gators at North Florida Ospreys

FLA: -425 | UNF: +300
Game Time: 6 pm. ET
Where: Jacksonville, Fla.
Odds via DraftKings

The No. 4 Florida Gators will start freshman phenom RHP Liam Peterson on Tuesday. It’s his debut, but his performance in spring scrimmages has already earned him the Saturday starting spot for the Gators. He’ll likely be on a pitch count ahead of next Saturday, but he gives the Gators a leg up.

Florida’s season got off to a rocky start. The Gators dropped their opener to St. John’s on Friday before the rest of their weekend got rained out. The winless Gators dropped from No. 2 to No. 4 as a result. While I’m lower on the Gators than most, they’re trading at -425 (81%) on the moneyline. That’s a bit too low.

North Florida may have the home-field advantage, but the Gators have a much bigger advantage: their offense. Two-way star Jac Caglianone is back for another season after recording a 1.122 OPS last season. INF Cade Kurland (.959 OPS) is back, too and will look to bounce back after recording just one hit in five at-bats on Friday. DH Luke Heyman (.912 OPS) also returns, and he’s also coming off a one-hit game.

The Gators should take out their frustrations on the Ospreys on Tuesday afternoon. They went 11-2 (84.6%) in weekday games last season, including two wins over UNF, and I look for them to keep rolling in this spot. I’d play the run line, but because there is none available, we’re adding Florida to a two-leg college baseball parlay for today.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Georgia Southern Eagles

TECH: -145 | GSU: +114
Game Time: 6 pm. ET
Where: Arlington, Texas
Odds via DraftKings

Like the Gators, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have a road date scheduled with a cross-state opponent in a lower-tier conference. Unlike the Gators, the Yellow Jackets started the season with a dominant 3-0 series sweep of the Radford Highlanders.

The Eagles did not have such a good start. Georgia Southern started the year with a 1-2 series loss to the Maryland Terrapins. Sure, Maryland is better than the average Sun Belt team, but so is Tech. The Yellow Jackets scored the 18th-best transfer class and the 19th-best freshman class. Some of their additions include freshman Drew Burress, who has a 1.786 OPS through his first 16 collegiate plate appearances, and two-way INF Payton Green (2.188). Regression comes for everyone, but Tech’s new additions have started hot.

Tech is expected to start RHP Logan McGuire, who struggled with a 5.79 ERA in 9.1 innings pitched last season before suffering an injury. McGuire also tallied a sketchy 7.02 ERA in 33.1 innings pitched the season before. However, the RHP held the top of Georgia Southern’s order to one earned run and two strikeouts in one inning pitched last year.

Opposite McGuire is LHP Jacob Phillips. We saw Tech chew up Radford’s southpaw starter on Sunday — Green hit a two-out grand slam, knocking the lefty out of the game in the process. The three left-handed relievers that Tech faced on Saturday surrendered a cumulative 10.80 ERA, which jumps to a 12.70 ERA when you lump in the Sunday starter. Look for the Tech bats to stay hot against a lefty pitcher making his first Division 1 start.
