College Baseball World Series 2023 Betting Odds & Picks for Today: LSU-Florida

LSU (-135) vs. Florida | Monday, June 26 at 7 p.m. ET

The LSU Tigers began the year ranked No. 1 for a reason, and it’s more than just RHP Paul Skenes (13-2), their ace pitcher. After nearly a full season, their offense ranks fourth in OPS (.980), ahead of 15th-ranked Florida (.937). Even after Sunday’s 24-run barrage from Florida, LSU still ranks 34th in team ERA (4.49), just one slot below 33rd-ranked Florida (4.46).

Although Skenes helped lift the LSU Tigers to the finals by shutting down Wake Forest for eight innings on Thursday, it’s likely that we’ll see him — at least out of the bullpen — for some of Monday night’s action. Too much is on the line for a competitor like Skenes to not lobby his way into the game. The Gators will likely start two-way LHP Jac Caglianone (7-3), who just hit a pair of home runs in Game 2.

Caglianone led Florida’s three primary starters in ERA (3.68) and has pitched 73.1 innings this year. Although he has surrendered an impressive .186 batting average, he walks plenty of batters and doesn’t strike out many. His 1.38 WHIP is the highest of Florida’s three primary starters. He also didn’t look good in his lone Omaha appearance — Caglianone lasted only 4.1 innings against TCU after allowing three hits, three walks and hitting three batters.

It’s still unclear who LSU will call to the mound early, but the Tigers have an advantage on offense, and they should win whichever innings Skenes is available to pitch. Aside from Skenes, LHP Riley Cooper (5-3) could be available after closing out Game 1. The Tigers are rightfully favored for this matchup, so let’s lock in the best price, the -135 at DraftKings Sportsbook, before sharp money gobbles it up. New to DraftKings?
