“It’s not so much what Nebraska has done this year, but I’m trying to sell high on Michigan State, a team that I don’t have a lot of confidence in. I think they ran hot really early in the season … but they also have losses to Alabama, Notre Dame, Northwestern. The rest of their schedule is just cupcake after cupcake. Meanwhile, Nebraska has actually played some fairly close games.”
Matt likes the Cornhuskers against the spread as 7-point underdogs taking on a Michigan State team that has been pretty inconsistent this year.

Just like a DFS lineup, the optimal March Madness bracket has to have the perfect amount of chalk balanced with a few contrarian pivots at strategic spots. Although there are innumerable approaches to achieving that end, one that possesses a good balance of effectiveness and simplicity centers on picking a darkhorse champion that is highly leveraged versus the field but going chalky throughout the rest of the bracket.
