CBB Odds: College Basketball National Player of the Year Odds
Per Caesar’s Sportsbook,
Zach Edey -4500
Jalen Wilson +1500
Trayce Jackson-Davis +2500
Marcus Sasser +7500
Brandon Miller +7500
Kris Murray +7500
Zach Edey is running away with the award according to the latest odds. At -4500 you will have to lay a pretty penny to make much betting on the Purdue star. Edey had been hovering around even money to win the hardware since mid-December according to Sportsbettingdime.com’s odds tracker. His lead grew slowly to -415 in January and has soared since the beginning of February, to its current price.
Wilson and Jackson-Davis’s odds have remained steady throughout, but the two have not been able to keep up with Edey’s rise.
Wilson has averaged 20 points and 8 rebounds per game on the year. Jackson-Davis has averaged 20 points and ten boards. The forwards, who play for Kansas and Indiana, respectively, have been consistent all season. However, they have failed to separate themselves compared to Edey, who is maintaining higher averages in most statistical categories.
Edey has put up 22 points and 12 rebounds per game. Despite his huge 7’4″ frame he has chipped in 1.5 assists per contest.
His chances are further boosted by the Purdue Boilermakers’ #5 ranking in the AP Top 25. Kansas is at #3, while Indiana is ranked #17.
The trio of leading candidates to claim the John Wooden Award are followed by distant options in Marcus Sasser (+7500) of University of Houston, Brandon Miller (+7500) of University of Alabama and Kris Murray (+7500) of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Murray’s presence on the list gives the Big Ten Conference three members of the top five candidates.
