March Madness Betting Odds: UConn NCAA Tournament Favorites
Per DraftKings:
UConn entered their Elite 8 matchup against Gonzaga as a slight betting favorite, but they made easy work of the Bulldogs. Boosted by getting Gonzaga forward Drew Timme in foul trouble early. The Huskies pulled out a convincing 82-54 win.
“We just kind of got back to the team we were early in the season,” head coach Dan Hurley said after the win, per NY Post. “The Big East is the best conference in the country and we went through some struggles, but once we got out of that league and started playing nonconference teams again, we were OK.”
It is hard to argue with Hurley's comments about the Big East after seeing how well conference teams have performed in the NCAA Tournament. The Big East is now 9-4 after UConn's thrashing of Gonzaga, the best record of any conference in the tournament.
Creighton will now look to join UConn as the second Big East team in the Final Four. They ended the dream run from Princeton with a win in the Sweet 16 on Friday night and will be a slight favorite over SDSU in the Elite 8 matchup.
The last Final Four sport will come down to the Texas Longhorns or Miami Hurricanes. Despite being underdogs in the last two rounds, the Hurricanes have used their veteran guards to pull off the upsets. The Canes will once again be underdogs in the Elite 8 game against Texas, but it would hardly come as a surprise if they reached the Final Four.
The March Madness betting odds have UConn as the favorite to win the championship, but as we've seen all throughout the tournament, that dynamic can change in a heartbeat.
