San Diego State plays a brand of basketball that’s prone to tournament collapses. The Aztecs rank 247th in adjusted tempo on the season and 330th in the metric since the start of February. Operating at such a slow pace allows variance to play a bigger role in the box score, as the lack of extra possessions means that hot or cold streaks will have less time to get evened out.
