Michigan State Bettors Suffer Worst CBB Beat of Year With Iowa’s Insane Comeback

Michigan State bettors may be best suited taking the rest of Saturday off. The Spartans were up by 10 points with just 40 seconds to play, and it sure seemed like Iowa’s desperation fouls were delaying the inevitable defeat. But as the disappointed crowd at Carver-Hawkeye Arena headed for an early exit, madness ensued. Iowa drilled five straight 3-pointers, including one from Payton Sandfort to send the game to overtime.

The Hawkeyes would end up winning 112-102 in OT, meaning those bettors who got Michigan State at +5.5 (where the spread closed at DraftKings Sportsbook) suffered an even worse beat than the moneyline bettors who thought they had the game in the bag.

Michigan State Bettors Suffer Brutal Beat Thanks to Iowa Rally

Michigan State’s win probability at ESPN was at 99.8% before Iowa was able to go on their run in the final minute of the game. Shortly after the game finished, Michigan state bettors were reeling all over social media. Like many bettors, Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo was left wondering what just happened in Iowa City.

“Piss-poor coaching,” Izzo admitted after the game when speaking to reporters. “We didn’t finish the job.”

The loss has to hurt Izzo and the Spartans even more considering how well they played prior to the epic collapse. Tyson Walker set his career-high with 31 points, Jaden Akins had 21, Joey Hauser scored 18 and the Spartans shot 11-of-15 from 3-point range.
