Ben Rasa’s College Basketball Bet of the Day: Brown vs. Princeton (February 17)

It is the NBA All Star break, but there is still action on the court. College basketball rolls along, and even on a Friday there are plenty of games to break down. The marquee teams are mostly off prepping for a monster Saturday card, but there are some games worth viewing, including an Ivy League matchup between Princeton and Brown.

Sharp College Basketball Bet: Brown-Princeton

Princeton is a 6.5-point home favorite and is the play here. The Tigers are coming off a terrible road loss to Dartmouth and now get back home, where they have been untouchable in conference play. They are an efficient team, good on the glass, and tied with Yale atop the Ivy League standings. Princeton played Brown on the road and lost by 2, but in that game the Tigers somehow shot 36% from the free-throw line. They will have a much better performance today.

Brown is 13-10 and has faced top-end competition. The Bears come in having won four of five, but it is against the basement of the league. They average just under 70 points per game and now have to hit the road. Despite being a respectable team, Brown is inflated in this spot due to the recent level of competition, while Princeton may be undervalued. Lay the 6.5 with Princeton avenging its previous loss.
