South Carolina-Iowa Betting Odds

Per BetMGM:

  • Spread: South Carolina -11.5 (-110), Iowa +11.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline: South Carolina (-700), Iowa (+500)
  • Total: Over/Under 150.5 (-110)

Per data analyst John Ewing, just 15% of bets and 22% of the money is on South Carolina to cover the spread. Ninety percent of bets and 88% of money is on the Hawkeyes moneyline. Moreover, Iowa is the most-bet team to win the championship.

The Iowa action is likely due to the craze surrounding Caitlin Clark. The Hawkeyes guard is third in the NCAA in points per game (27.3) and first in assists (8.6). She has used her elite 3-point shooting to catapult Iowa’s run to the Final Four, scoring an electric 41 points in the 97-83 win over Louisville on Sunday night.

Clark’s on-court prowess has drawn the attention of many, including Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant.

“When you couple her edge with her skills and her IQ, that’s what takes her over the top and makes her rare,” Durant told the Washington Post this month. “She can pretty much do everything on the floor, score from any angle, shoot deep 3s and create for her teammates. But she has that feisty side to her. She has that dog in her, as people call it. She’s trying to do everything for her team because she can’t lose.”

Clark will be playing the role of Goliath on Friday when going up against a South Carolina team that has been the favorite to win it all since the start of the season. The Gamecocks have won by over 10 points in each of their games in the NCAA Tournament and were able to fend off an early charge by Maryland to win 86-75 in the Elite Eight.

Still, Clark has been the best player in this tournament, and the South Carolina-Iowa women’s Final Four betting trends show people are liking her chances to keep the game close.
