Tennessee-Louisiana Betting Odds: Can the Volunteers Avoid the Upset? (March 16)

The Tennessee Volunteers had a solid season, going 11-7 in the SEC and 23-10 overall. The Volunteers’ strong resume earned them a four-seed in the NCAA Tournament and a first round date with the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns. Louisiana finished second in the Sun Belt regular season but are coming in hot after winning their conference tournament last week. Regardless of that momentum, the Tennessee-Louisiana odds and betting lines still favor the Volunteers by a solid margin.

Tennessee-Louisiana Betting Odds For NCAA Tournament Matchup

Per DraftKings Sportsbook, Tennessee is a 10.5 point favorite over Louisiana. The Volunteers are -600 on the moneyline compared to the Ragin Cajuns at +450.

Tennessee is set in motion by lead guard Zakai Zeigler, who led the SEC with 5.4 assists per game. The sophmore was named to the conference’s All-Freshman team a year ago and is hoping to earn All-Conference honors this year.

Much of Zeigler’s work comes from distributing the ball to the Volunteer’s leading scorer Santiago Vescovi,  who is the team’s leading scorer at 12.9 points per game. Vescovi will look to build on his performance in their regular season finale against Auburn when he put up 21 points. He averaged over 15-points per game in the SEC tournament.

Louisiana’s success rests on the shoulders of Jordan Brown who led the team in scoring and finished third in the conference. Brown’s 19.4 points per game will be crucial if the Ragin Cajun’s want to cover the 10.5 point spread against Tennessee.

The last time that Louisiana made the NCAA Tournament was in 2014. They have made the ‘big dance’ six times in school history, with one win to show for it. They are hoping to add a second win to their record this year despite the long Teneessee-Louisiana odds.
