West Coast Conference Tournament Odds: Gonzaga Leads the Way
Per DraftKings Sportsbook, Gonzaga (-145) is the slight favorite over Saint Mary’s (+125). They are followed by long-shots BYU (25-1) and San Francisco (35-1). Gonzaga and Saint Mary’ssplir the conference championship title in the regular season after they both went 14-2 and split their two matchups. Saint Mary’s is a seven-point favorite over BYU in the semifinal, with Gonzaga coming in as a heavy 13-point favorite against San Francisco in their game.
The Gonzaga-Sant Mary’s championship game was always a likelihood after the two teams proved throughout the regular season that they are the best of the West Coast Conference.
Saint Mary’s fell 77-68 against Gonzaga last Saturday, with Zags star Drew Timme leading the way with a game-high 19 points. Anton Watson also made an impact, scoring 17 points in the game.
“It was the whole nation watching and we made sure that we backed our name and made everybody respect us,” Watson said after the win, per ESPN. “We know what happened with LMU here at home and everybody kind of looked down on us, but we just had to keep a tight circle.”
Although Gonzaga cemented their status as the top-ranked team in the West Coast Conference, Saint Mary’s is in the midst of an impressive season in its own right and would be building even more confidence for the NCAA Tournament if they can hoist the conference tournament trophy next week.
Based on the latest West Coast Conference odds, Gonzaga is still the most dangerous team in the conference heading into March Madness. But Saint Mary’s should not be slept on this week, or once the NCAA Tournament begins later in the month.
