College Football PrizePicks Week 9 Predictions: Washington Passing Game Dominates (Oct. 28)

Week 9 of college football features five of the top six ranked teams in action, including No. 1 Georgia in an SEC battle with Florida. There are seven games with totals above 60 points this week, with seven teams favored by 20 points or more.  With so many games and plays to choose from it can be hard to make the right picks but with the assistance of OddsShopper’s PrizePicks optimizer, I’ve designed these plays to help you make informed choices and maximize your chances of success. College Football PrizePicks Predictions for Week 9

Jonathon Brooks, Texas, More/Less Than 23.5 Fantasy Score

Yes, another Jonathan Brooks pick. He’s made the list three times so far. Brooks had more than 23.5 fantasy points in three of his last five games. Last week against Houston, he failed to reach 100 yards rushing and still finished with 23 fantasy points. Brooks is averaging 20.8 touches per game in seven games this season, and that may increase against BYU.

Texas’s starting quarterback, Quinn Ewers, has been ruled out, leaving Freshman Maalik Murphy to start behind center. Murphy has thrown just nine passes this season. We could see Texas rely more on the running game, as Murphy is unproven as a passer. The Longhorns are 20-point favorites over the BYU Cougars, who allow 396.5 total yards per game and have allowed 30 or more points in three of their last five games.

Le’Veon Moss, Texas A & M, More/Less Than 79.5 Rushing Yards

The Aggies are 16.5-point favorites over the 2-5 South Carolina Gamecocks. South Carolina ranks 48th out of 68 teams in the power five in run defense, and their 446 yards allowed are the 12th most in college football. They have allowed four different 100-yard rushers in seven games, indicating this is a favorable matchup for any running back.

Moss is averaging 5.0 yards per carry and has had 15 or more rushing attempts in five straight games. He has a very favorable matchup and should see enough volume to get more than 79.5 rushing yards. Stokastic CFB projections have Moss expected to reach 96.6 rushing yards.

Michael Penix Jr, Washington, More/Less Than 335.5 Passing Yards

No. 5 Washington will visit 2-5 Stanford in what should be a lopsided game. The Huskies are favored by 26.5 points, and this game has a 60.5-point total. It’s no secret that Stanford has a terrible defense; they allow 316 passing yards per game, the second most in college football behind Colorado.

Penix is coming off a tough week where offense was hard to come by in a 15-7 victory over Arizona State. Penix threw for 275 yards on 42 attempts with two interceptions. This was the first time this season he failed to reach 300 passing yards. Penix is the current favorite to win the Heisman, and this matchup is just what he needs after last week. He leads college football with 2,576 passing yards and ranks 11th with a 70% completion rating. Stokastic projects him for 409.5 passing yards, well over this PrizePicks number.

Rome Odunze, Washington, More/Less Than 90.5 Receiving Yards

Stacking high-total games and pairing quarterbacks with receivers is always a good idea when entering flex plays, and that’s exactly what we’re doing here. Stanford has allowed four receivers to eclipse the 100-yard mark this season, and their coverage ranks 125th, according to PFF. Odunze ranks fifth in the country in receiving yards and has recorded more than 100 receiving yards in five of his seven games. Stokastic projections have him at 110.8 receiving yards.
