Charles Schwab Challenge: Following Michael Jordan Endorsement, Michael Block Odds Updated

The PGA Championship felt like stuff straight out of a Hollywood script for Michael Block, and his story may be just beginning. The 46-year-old club pro adored himself to the fans at Oak Hill all weekend long, stealing the show away from some of the sport’s best talents. After his unbelievable showing at the major tournament, Block received some high praise from the GOAT himself, Michael Jordan. He also received a sponsor’s exemption for this weekend’s Charles Schwab Challenge. The betting odds reveal Block as a long shot to compete, but he has absolutely nothing to lose following the high finish last week. Bettors looking for the best value for this weekend’s PGA event can head over to OddsShopper tools to find the highest ROI!

Block qualified for the PGA Championship with a second-place finish at the 2023 PGA Professional Championship. He was a virtual unknown despite making some appearances in his life but changed all that by showing he could compete with some of the very best golfers in the world. Block finished off Sunday’s final round at the PGA playing alongside Rory McIlroy in front of a packed gallery (who were more so there to follow Block instead of McIlroy).

His top-15 finish threw him into the public spotlight, getting plenty of attention from all different PGA fans and media members. But perhaps the most exciting text Block received was from Michael Jordan, who wanted to share his high praise with the journeyman golfer.

“I’m a big Jordan guy my whole life. I was a little kid in Iowa saving 100 bucks for a pair of Jordans back in the day,” Block said, per Fox News.

Like many sports fans around the world, Jordan found himself inspired by Block’s performance, saying that’s why he “loves the game.” That said, the Charles Schwab odds show Block has very little chance of replicating his performance again this weekend.

Then again, Block’s dream of a weekend could spill over to his next event. Maybe he will step up and defy the odds one more time. One thing is for sure: Block is no longer a no-name garnering very little attention when he tees it up on Thursday.
