Latest Odell Beckham Jr., Ravens News Places Lamar Jackson In Baltimore

The latest Odell Beckham-Ravens news seems to more than hint at superstar gunslinger Lamar Jackson staying with Baltimore. How do we know this? Tickle me glad you asked, fine reader.

“The goal is to come here and have that possibility with him,” Odell Beckham Jr. said at his introductory news conference Thursday, via ESPN.

It’s important to note, despite a certain blunt statement from the general manager (more on that in a second), that OBJ was given no assurances regarding Jackson’s Baltimore status.

Pretty much since the NFL season ended there’s been rumors, reports and rumors of reports suggesting not only were the Baltimore Ravens unwilling to give Lamar Jackson all the money, but that the latter might even want a trade out from the only franchise he’s been with since leaving college.

21-plus in most states. Call 1-800-GAMBLER if you have a problem.

And yet…

“Lamar is in our plans,” Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said. “We’re hopeful to still get a long-term deal. He’s the right player for this team.”

Fresh coming off some injury issues, Odell Beckham Jr. inked a one-year, $15 million deal with the Ravens. Obviously, one can argue that large sum of cash could have just gone straight to the quarterback who is looking for more money, but one would assume the franchise gave the WR such a delightfully high amount of cash in the hopes he’d be playing alongside Jackson. Otherwise, what’s the point? Is Baltimore just around to set money on fire outside the position?

Let’s digress.

That’s pure speculation on this handsome Internet Scribbler’s end. What I think the Ravens should do — give Lamar Jackson all the monies — isn’t what they will inherently do (of course).

Still, if Odell Beckham Jr. is under the impression there’s a possibility of playing with him, and the general manager flatly states that Jackson is in Baltimore’s plans and is the right player long-term, it does seem more likely than a month or so ago that Lamar Jackson will indeed be back with the franchise.

What does this mean for the rest of the NFL. Well, as per usual, poor New York Jets. You get to chase after the darkroom guy after all.
