The king of pick’em style daily fantasy sports is getting itself a bigger Atlanta palace. PrizePicks announced on its website that it plans to expand its workforce by 1,000 over a period of seven years, and it is moving to a 33,000 square foot headquarters to prepare for that growth.
The Star Metals Building in the West Midtown neighborhood of Atlanta will be the new home for PrizePicks. Star Metals is a business district in Atlanta that houses a number of office spaces, and as PrizePicks’ press release describes, it “raises style and luxury to new heights.” In other words, PrizePicks is inserting itself into a hub for high-end business space as the company experiences a mixture of growth and decline.
PrizePicks has been dealt some blows in the past few months, with Florida and New York outlawing the paid contests of skill that it offers. Other states may follow suit. However, PrizePicks is still available in 29 states and offers its service to 60% of the U.S. population, and Inc. 5000 named it the fastest growing sports company in North America.
Even with losing the third- and fourth-largest states in the country, PrizePicks has maintained a strong userbase.
On top of that, Georgia failed to move forward a sports betting bill before the end of its legislative session, meaning sports betting will not be on the ballot in 2024. So PrizePicks remains the top paid contest provider in the state, and it is not losing that anytime soon given Georgia projects it will provide $25 million for the state with its job expansion.
PrizePicks remains confident in its future, even if pick’em games are experiencing some legal hurdles.
