WNBA Player Props: Sabrina Ionescu Props Are The Absolute Rage

The WNBA is back. While casual basketball fans might be looking to just the NBA postseason for their fix, basketball junkies know there are some fun WNBA player props tonight. Oh, and when I mean fun, I mean all the Sabrina Ionescu props. With the New York Liberty facing the Washington Mystics tonight, let’s get right to it.

WNBA Player Prop One: Sabrina Ionescu Props for points at O/U 16.5

You’ll notice as this post gets longer in the tooth, but this is basically a Sabrina Props Post Special of sports. And if you trust my judgement, which you should because we’re pals, you might even want to consider playing all three of the props I’m going to present.

Nevertheless, let’s get to the meat and bones here. After a good, but statistically underwhelming 2021 campaign, Sabrina Ionescu averaged 17.4 points per last season. Shooting an iffy 40 percent from the field for her career, but an interesting 33 percent from beyond the arc, the now 25-year-old — who is known as a jack-of-all-trades — finds her self on an ultra-talented roster where points might be hard to to find.

No. Not because she’s incapable, but because some of her other skill sets (passing), coupled with all the talent around her, should allow her to score easy baskets when needed, but don’t expect shots to come in volume. There’s simply no need for it. Expect her 14 field goal attempts per game last season to go down and instead more closely mirror her 9.9 FGA per outing from the season before that.

Ionescu is one of my favorite basketball players of all-time. She’s so much fun to watch and she’s awesome — but, you know, new superteam fallout stuff. Her points this season, and FGAs in general, will be something worth monitoring.

Let’s go with the under at 16.5.

WNBA Player Prop Two: Sabrina Ionescu Props for assists at O/U 5.5

Averaging over 6 assists per game for her career, coupled with all the talent surrounding her and every single reason I gave above for why the points are going under, this one doesn’t need much of an explanation.

Ionescu is more versatile than an all-weather-jacket, and there’s good reason to believe she’s going to be showing off even more of her passing skills this season. Her accession as one of the best playermakers in all of basketball continues tonight, as we’re going with the over on assists.

WNBA Player Prop Three: Sabrina Ionescu Props for rebounds at O/U 5.5

What’s with FanDuel loving the 5.5 for over/unders?

Given how well, historically speaking, Ionescu rebounds, 5.5 seems incredibly low. Perhaps the presumption here is how her role might be changing with a new-look Liberty, and the fact the overall shooting percentage will go up, limiting her ability to hit the offensive glass.

I’m not so sure about that. It’ll be interesting to follow the Liberty during the season just to see how her role changes, morphs, adapts and evolves, because if she’s asked to carry less of the scoring burden, everything else should skyrocket.

Due to this, let’s hit the over on rebounds so hard your Aunt Sally can feel the newfound wagers hitting her bones even though she lives in Scranton.
