The Green Bay Packers have been struggling on offense lately. They obviously lost star quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the offseason, but running back Aaron Jones has been dealing with an injury, too. So is Aaron Jones playing this week? Let’s look at the most recent Aaron Jones injury updates as we assess whether he will be available for Week 7. Aaron Jones Injury Update: Is Green Bay’s Star Playing Sunday?
Aaron Jones Injury Update
The Green Bay Packers need a spark on offense. They scored just 13 points against the Las Vegas Raiders in their last game. Fortunately, they’ll face a bad Denver Broncos defense this week — and they may have star running back Aaron Jones in the mix as well. Jones last played in a limited role against the Detroit Lions in late September.
Jones has been dealing with a lingering hamstring injury. He was able to get in limited reps in practice all week, but we’ve seen him do that before. He also got in limited reps in the leadup to Week 5’s game against the Raiders, which he missed. While the extra week off may have helped, his status remained up in the air.
Head coach Matt LaFleur kept his cards close to his chest when asked about Jones following Friday’s practice. “He looked pretty good,” LaFleur said, “but he was limited … We’ll see how he’s feeling.” LaFleur has been cautious with Jones this season. Jones was expecting to play against the Raiders but LaFleur decided to hold him out of the contest.
Is Aaron Jones Playing for Green Bay in Week 7?
So is Aaron Jones playing for Green Bay in Week 7? We probably won’t know until after pregame warmups. From everything we’ve seen so far this year, LaFleur will not rush Jones back if there is a significant risk of re-injury. Still, the bye week should’ve helped, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Jones suit up come Sunday.

But if Jones does play, it’s possible that LaFleur chooses to ease him back into things. That’s kind of what he did when Jones first returned to the field to face the Lions. LaFleur limited the 29-year-old running back to just 20 snaps, or 35% of Green Bay’s total. The Packers have a talented backup in A.J. Dillon, so it’s not like they need Jones on the field for every play.
