Bengals-Chiefs Betting Trends: Here Come the Chiefs Backers

The Cincinnati Bengals picked up a ton of steam when opening as underdogs against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship. The early action pushed the Bengals to 2.5-point favorites just a day after the opening line dropped. But the latest Bengals-Chiefs betting trends prove the wagering action has started to even out a bit.

Latest Bengals-Chiefs Betting Trends Cause Odds to Shift

Per Caesars Sportsbook‘s Max Meyer, 79.4% of bets and 84.8% of the money were on the Bengals when the line got as high as -2.5 on Tuesday afternoon. Now, the Chiefs are starting to get some attention. 78.4% of bets are still on the Bengals to cover the spread, but just 60.6% of bets are on the road favorites to win back-to-back AFC Championships.

The wave of Chiefs bets coming in may have something to do with the improved injury status of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Despite suffering a high ankle sprain in the Divisional Round, Mahomes was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice, telling the media he feels ready to go.

“It’s just about being a competitor. You want to be out there, especially in these games,” Mahomes said, per USA Today. “So, all you can do is just mentally prepare yourself, your body throughout the week, and when you get to game day, you just have to focus on the game. That’s what I’ll try to do, is prepare my body the best I can to get to the game, and I’ll go out there and play, and find a way to win.”

The Mahomes injury news on Wednesday has some bettors confident the Chiefs can pull off the upset at Arrowhead Stadium, even after a healthy Mahomes lost the AFC Championship in the same scenario against the Bengals last season.
