The Cincinnati Bengals-Kansas City Chiefs betting line for the AFC Championship is already taking some drastic movements ahead of the Sunday matchup. The Bengals are now the favorite despite the Chiefs opening as the slight home favorite when the betting line dropped Sunday, and the Bengals-Chiefs over/under is on the move, as well.

The Bengals-Chiefs over/under and odds movements are likely a product of the Patrick Mahomes injury. The Chiefs quarterback suffered a high ankle sprain in the win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Divisional Round. And while he was able to limp through the pain to finish the game, the status of Mahomes for the Conference Championship remains up in the air while the team assesses his progress throughout the week.
“He’s worked hard in the treatment and is doing OK,” Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Monday, per ESPN. “He mentioned it to you that he’s going to play. That’s his mindset, and then we’ll just take it day by day and see how he does.”
Patrick Mahomes will likely be suiting up for the AFC Championship, with the question more about how effective and mobile he can be when dealing with an injury of this severity. The Chiefs will need Mahomes at his best too, granted how well the Bengals have been playing in recent weeks. Cincinnati has won 11 straight games dating back to the end of October, dominating the Buffalo Bills 27-10 in the Divisional Round on Sunday afternoon.
The Bengals have beaten the Chiefs 27-24 the last two times the teams met, including in last year’s overtime thriller in the Conference Championship. The latest Bengals-Chiefs over/under and odds indicate we’ll have more of a low-scoring affair this time around, but we’ll be sure to track how this line continues to move throughout the course of the week.
