Best Super Bowl LVII Player Prop | Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Marquez Valdes-Scantling O/U 35.5 Receiving Yards

The Philadelphia Eagles own one of the NFL’s best defenses. But in spite of their dominance, opposing wide receivers have still averaged 129.7 receiving yards per game against them. Someone will end up doing damage to their secondary, especially with Patrick Mahomes under center, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling makes for a sharp target. The Kansas City Chiefs just lost Mecole Hardman to injured reserve last week, so bettors should expect the unexpected from Kansas City’s wideouts come Sunday.

Valdes-Scantling owns a dominant athletic profile. He ran a 4.37-second 40-yard dash and owns a 98th-percentile speed score among wide receivers, per PlayerProfiler. He hit speeds of 22.1 miles per hour on a 75-yard receiving touchdown just last year and clocked in at 17.2-plus miles per hour on two receptions just last week. But unlike most speedster receivers, Valdes-Scantling also has the size to compete on the boundary — he stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 205 pounds.

The Eagles have been vulnerable to speedy receivers with large frames in the past. DJ Chark Jr. caught four passes for 52 yards against them in Week 1. Christian Watson caught four passes for 110 yards against them in Week 12, including a 63-yard receiving touchdown on which he clocked in at 21 miles per hour.

Further, this number is surprisingly low after Hardman’s injury. Valdes-Scantling has gone over this number in nine of his 19 appearances this year. The total (35.5) sits below his regular-season average (40.4) and his full-season average (42.8). He’ll now face reduced competition for targets in a do-or-die matchup.

Bettors eager to tail this play on the Marquez Valdes-Scantling player prop markets should head to DraftKings Sportsbook to do so.
