Bills-Chargers Player Prop Pick

James Cook Prop O/U 14.5 Rush Attempts

If you didn’t watch last week’s Cowboys-Bills game, go on YouTube, kick your feet up, and enjoy the James Cook show. Cook went nuclear for 179 yards on the ground on 25 carries.

I don’t love attacking running backs on semi-short weeks, but the Bills are in no spot to rest starters. Sure, they’re expected to beat the Los Angeles Chargers handily, but Cook will be a primary reason why the Bills jump out to a lead and control it.

Thanks to OddsShopper’s +EV tools, we can see the different lines across the market for James Cook and his rushing attempts. The major books have Cook’s line right where we want it: 14.5. FanDuel, known to be very sharp, has Cook’s line set at 15.5 with little vig on the over. With a prop dictated by game script and how well the Bills can control the ball, I will gladly take on the vig and the better number. If you have access to bet365, they have the best price. If not, head to DraftKings, BetMGM, or ESPNBet.

Cook is, without question, the best back in the Bills’ running back room. He has shown that ever since they fired former offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey. With new offensive mind Joe Brady under control, he has made sure to get Cook the ball. In the four games with Brady calling plays, Cook has run the ball 17, 16, 10, and 27 times — I’ll do the math for you. That’s three out of four times he has eclipsed this rushing attempts line.

In a game that features the Bills as almost two-touchdown favorites, a Chargers rush defense that allowed Zamir WhiteJavonte Williams and Ezekiel Elliott all to run the ball 17 times each the last three weeks and Cook, who is playing the best football of his young career, you should feel confident about this player prop bet for Saturday Night.

Bills-Chargers Anytime Touchdown Scorer Pick

I have a surprise for touchdown bettors. I’m betting on a different Bills running back than James Cook to cash us in on Saturday Night. Ty Johnson is my top touchdown scorer pick for Bills-Chargers, and let’s talk about why.

The Bills have lived in the red zone since Joe Brady took care the playcalling. In the last four weeks, the offense is averaging 30 points per game, with all three of the Bills running backs having at least four touches inside the 20-yard line. That includes Ty Johnson, who scored in Joe Brady’s debut as offensive coordinator.

As 12.5 point favorites, and this game having the potential of getting out of hand fast, Johnson could get extensive work — especially with Cook totaling 27 touches last week.

Look for Johnson, who ran the ball a season-high nine times last week, to get chances to find the end zone on Saturday Night. He has already racked up four carries and on reception inside the red zone this year. What’s another two or three more?
