Browns-Texans Same-Game Parlay Picks: David Njoku Bet Leads The Way (1/13)

It’s the old man versus the new kid on the block. While Joe Flacco and CJ Stroud won’t be squaring off against each other, their respective defenses will be the driving force, or at least one. Rookie QBs are 21-38 ATS since 2003, not faring well for even the bright Stroud who took the league by storm. As did Mr. Flacco, reviving his career with one stretch of dynamic play. There’s enough storyline between the two signal callers alone, but that’s just part of our same game parlay script. Nonetheless, let’s get to our Browns-Texans same-game parlay picks, which includes a nifty David Njoku prop.

Leg 1 (Cleveland Browns -130)

Thanks to OddsShopper we find this number a little lower on BetMGM, giving us a nice anchor to start this parlay. History and recent trend are working against the Texans, as great of a story as both QB and head coach are, this is a welcoming party for Stroud, nothing more. Flacco is the perfect fit to a puzzle missing that end piece. One he arrived as the starter, things in the passing game became less volatile, which opened some lanes for running backs to breathe.

Jim Schwartz has done a superb job coaching one of the league’s best defenses. Road or home, the Browns show up and are a menace to opposing quarterbacks. Myles Garrett leads the way but it’s far from just his presence, as dominating as he can be. This is just a difficult matchup for Houston with no real extra motivation to play for since Deshaun Watson isn’t even on the field. Flacco is 9-3 ATS on the road, including 6-0 in the first game of the postseason. Take the Browns.

Leg 2 (David Njoku Prop: 5+ Receptions)

The Browns standout Tight End’s receptions line currently sits over/under 5.5 grabs. We drop that to 5 but still improve our current SGP odds to +155. Don’t worry, we will add more.

This is Flacco’s favorite target and a stud talent on top of that. Njoku is not the best matchup for Houston as the Texans can’t seem to figure out how to defend this position. Tight ends feast on the Texans defense but are doing it with consistent catching of the football, not simply big plays.

He’s gone over this number in four straight games, hitting this in seven of his last eight overall. He’s a magnet for the football and Flacco seems to find him on a string, rather easily.

We add five receptions to the mix here knowing that this is the top tandem on the field, at least for today’s game.

Leg 3 (Joe Flacco 2+ Passing TDs)

Let it fly, Flacco. Kevin Stefanski is 10-0 ATS against the AFC South and isn’t about to let up now. While the Browns offense was initially built around an injured Nick Chubb, it’s Flacco time. That simply means using the pass game to gain and extend a lead, possibly a blowout in the air, through red zone throws. The Browns are going to take risks here because they can trust a guy in Flacco and his 11-4 ATS career playoff record.

Houston isn’t exactly equipped to slow down Cleveland’s tight end position, as stated above, so that leaves softer areas in their defense – especially vulnerable to big plays down field. The Browns offense has seen their QB throw all over the field and actually leading the NFL from when he took over in Week 13 through Week 17.

That five game stretch against defenses at least as good as the Texans, if not better, are enough ammo to pad this play at 2+ scores. There isn’t room for any learning or education in this game, save that for the young Houston team. Flacco and this Browns squad need to establish dominance in the air, fast. That should lead to more chances for Flacco, especially down by the 30/25 yard line.

Flacco just threw for three TD’s against this same Texans team on Christmas Eve.
