There are a handful of intriguing matchups in tonight’s game — Mike Evans versus that Cowboys secondary, Todd Bowles versus Mike McCarthy and Mayfield versus anything Dallas has for a pass rush. The one with the biggest impact is actually going to be Rush against the Buccaneers defense. Bowles has a fantastic record going up against backups or just generally bad quarterbacks. We don’t need a detailed ESPN rankings list to know Rush is a bottom-tier quarterback.
There’s still a sense of urgency to clear the rest of the division, and Tampa has an incredible advantage throwing the ball.
Mike Evans Anytime Touchdown
That advantage comes across no better than with Evans. Despite injury and even some struggles around him, Evans is still a top-shelf wideout in this league. He can find spots or dominate individual matchups. The Cowboys are giving up over 230 yards per game to quarterbacks, and that’s on average with a lot of average arms in the NFL. Mayfield should have plenty of opportunities to hit his favorite target, and Dallas won’t do anything to stop it.
Bucky Irving 50+ Rushing Yards
This line was down to 53.5 when it opened, immediately bet north of 60 yards. We reel it back to where it began as Irving should torch this weak Cowboys rush defense. He’s a comfortable part of the offense with double-digit carries coming on a consistent basis. Running backs have also obliterated this poorly coached and executed run defense in Dallas. Too harsh? It sits dead last in EPA per rush. Irving might hit this in the first half.
Rico Dowdle U 16.5 Rush Attempts
This would fit nicely in our narrative for this ticket. The Cowboys will be playing from behind, and their quarterback will be under a ton of pressure. If Dowdle is going to be involved, it won’t come from volume on the ground. If anything, the Cowboys will have to be creative in screen or quick swings to Dowdle which hurts his chances of getting 17 carries.
