Sunday night features a handful of compelling storylines, from the sudden slip of the Vikings to the incredible run by Joe Flacco. There’s no quarterback controversy in Indianapolis, as Flacco’s success seems to follow wherever he goes. Meanwhile, Sam Darnold is hoping to regain stability at home following two straight losses. Colts-Vikings Anytime Touchdown Bet for Sunday
There may not be a happier individual on the Vikings than Justin Jefferson, as the team got news T.J. Hockenson will make his season debut. At the very least, there is relief for Jefferson, whom defenders drape each week. Darnold is a close second; the offense gets a huge boost with speed and crisp routes out of the tight end position. It allows Darnold to put pressure on Indianapolis’ defense by having a deep middle threat too.
Hockenson caught 95 passes last year despite finishing with just five touchdowns. The Vikings also flamed out to end the season, losing four of five — the lone victory a 3-0 win over Vegas. Expect the ball to move better than last year given that Minnesota has found way more of a rhythm this season. Kevin O’Connell should have a few specific plays in the book for Hockenson, especially when the Vikings get closer to the goal line.
It’s natural for any team to go heavy with the coverage on Jefferson. With Aaron Jones also a receiving threat, Hockenson should see some favorable matchups.
The Colts allow a ton of receptions and overall production to the tight end spot. Hockenson isn’t a typical body in this position, even after missing half of the season.
