Commanders-Eagles Anytime Touchdown Bet for Thursday

We came up 1 yard short on Monday with our anytime touchdown play, so consider this a return with vengeance. The good news is our love affair with the tight end position has not come to an end despite a failure earlier in the week. All signs point to another big game by a valued member of the Eagles offense, especially with some factors aiding his cause. This remains a tight 3.5- to 4-point line as of this afternoon and hasn’t budged all week.

The Commanders struggle against the run. That’s an understatement; they are horrible. They exhibit something that’s been called a run funnel, where anything you send at them on the ground is bound to work. Expect the Eagles to pound Saquon Barkley and push the ball on the ground until they exhaust the Commanders. Of course, that’s not always how things work, and coaches outthink themselves more than their opponent.

Here’s where Dallas Goedert stands out at anything +350 or above. He’s healthy and back in the good graces of his quarterback, Jalen Hurts. Don’t understate the importance of having that with a quarterback who is truly selective with his progressions. DeVonta Smith is playing through a hamstring injury. This could limit the targets for him and open some more of the crossing routes for Goedert, something Kellen Moore will readily oblige.

This number still feels rather long for the third- to fourth-best option in the pass game. The Commanders pass defense has been playing better and will throw everything at slowing down A.J. Brown. That can easily open some space for Goedert to maneuver, especially in the goal line or red zone.
