The Chargers are fresh off a much-needed bye week to get Austin Ekeler healthy. The stud running back hasn’t played since Week 1 but registered three straight full practices leading into Monday Night. Alongside Ekeler leading the offense, Justin Herbert, who is dealing with a finger injury, will be a full go and look to expose a Cowboys defense that was embarrassed on Sunday Night Football last week against the San Francisco 49ers. Dak Prescott has looked lost on the Cowboys front, so we’re turning our attention to running back Tony Pollard.

It’s Pollard’s regime in Dallas, with Ezekiel Elliott being let go in the offseason. Pollard was magical last year when he took over the backfield, and he has not disappointed in 2023. He’s averaging 4.2 yards per carry but hasn’t been given the workload to cash any of his player props in the last two weeks due to the game script. Two weeks ago against the Patriots, the Cowboys led wire to wire and didn’t need much of Pollard. Last week against the 49ers was much of the same to the extent of Pollard’s use. He touched the ball just 12 times, eight of which were carries. As favorites on the road, and given Prescott’s recent struggles, the Cowboys should look to Pollard to lead the offense against a Chargers run defense allowing over 4 yards per carry.

Give Pollard the ball and see what he can do. In two games this season in which Pollard was handed the ball over 20 times, he rushed for 72 and 122 yards — cashing his prop in both games. The Cowboys defense should be able to keep them in the game and for Prescott to limit the turnovers after throwing three interceptions last game. With back-to-back games seeing below 70% of the snaps, Pollard will be heavily involved in not only the run game but the passing game as well. The Chargers rank in the middle of the league in rush yards allowed to running backs but have surrendered the 11th-most receiving yards to the position this season. Take both sides of Pollard in a game that presumes to be a shootout.

Cowboys-Chargers Anytime Touchdown Scorer

Quentin Johnston may finally be unleashed on Monday Night Football. He played a career high in snaps in Week 4 and is coming off a bye week that has hopefully integrated him into the offense more. With Mike Williams being sidelined for the rest of the season, Johnston has an opportunity to solidify his role in a high-powered offense as the No. 2 receiver behind Keenan Allen.

The last three weeks for the Cowboys defense have not been pretty, especially in the red zone. It has allowed a touchdown on 75% of opponent drives that enter the red zone. Dallas has its hands full against Herbert, who has thrown just one interception this season and ranks in the top 5 in touchdown percentage.

The Cowboys defense will be locked in on Allen and Ekeler, especially in the red zone. The total of over 50 points indicates that plenty of points will be scored, and Johnston could reel in his first career touchdown. FanDuel leads the market with the best price at +240, while DraftKings is down to +220.
