DeAndre Hopkins Injury Update: Is Tennessee’s Star Playing Sunday?
DeAndre Hopkins Injury Update
The Tennessee Titans made a splash this offseason by signing free-agent receiver DeAndre Hopkins to a two-year, $26 million deal. The investment has aged questionably to this point. Hopkins suffered an ankle injury late in Tennessee’s loss to New Orleans after reeling in seven of 13 targets for 65 yards.
Hopkins failed to log a single practice session this week. However, he did spend some time with quarterback Ryan Tannehill to work on the passing offense. Tannehill struggled in Week 1, completing only 47% of his throws for a dismal 4.9 net yards per attempt (NY/A).
“[I’m] just trying to get my body ready to go if I’m up Sunday,” Hopkins told reporters on Friday, adding “I haven’t been here to make those decisions.” Head coach Mike Vrabel didn’t comment on Hopkins’s status beyond listing him as questionable on the team’s official injury report.

Is DeAndre Hopkins Playing for Tennessee in Week 2?
So is DeAndre Hopkins playing for Tennessee in Week 2? We don’t know yet, but it doesn’t look good. The 31-year-old receiver’s failure to practice all week is a meaningful concern. Players who aren’t healthy enough to practice but pick up a questionable tag rarely end up seeing the field on Sunday.
If Hopkins can’t go, the Titans don’t have much depth behind him. The veteran wideout was targeted on 38.2% of Tannehill’s throws. Nick Westbrook-Ikhine recorded the second-most targets for them last week with seven. Treylon Burks was only targeted three times, while tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo was targeted twice.
