Deshaun Watson Injury Update: Is Cleveland’s Star Playing Sunday?
Deshaun Watson Injury Update
Latest Deshaun Watson Injury Update (8:05 AM Eastern): Barring a setback, the gunslinger is expected to play Sunday.
The Cleveland Browns have been without their $230 million quarterback in their last two games. They got smoked by the Baltimore Ravens with rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson under center but scored a stunning upset win over the San Francisco 49ers with P.J. Walker starting. Watson has picked up a questionable tag for this week’s action, but will he play?
Watson was able to get some meaningful reps in during practice. He was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday, but he at least logged limited reps on Thursday before getting in a full practice on Friday. Friday’s session marked Watson’s first full practice since the injury.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski sounded encouraged about Watson’s recovery in comments he made on Friday. “He looked good today,” Stefanski said but added, “I want to see how he responds over the next 48 hours based on that full workload.” The Browns again elevated P.J. Walker from their practice squad on Saturday.
Is Deshaun Watson Playing for Cleveland in Week 7?
So is Deshaun Watson playing for Cleveland in Week 7? It’s unclear, but he is trending in the right direction. The full practice session he logged on Friday is a great sign, as are the comments from Stefanski. Still, the Browns were concerned enough about Watson’s availability that they elevated Walker, so Watson’s status may come down to the wire.

The Browns will have to visit the Indianapolis Colts this weekend. At 3-2, the Browns are tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers for second place in the AFC North. They trail only the 4-2 Baltimore Ravens. Getting a win over a 3-3 Colts team would be big for Cleveland’s playoff hopes. I expect Watson to play in this one, but we probably won’t get confirmation until Sunday morning.
