Justin Jefferson M/L Than 0.5 Total Touchdowns
One of the ugliest games on paper today is between the hapless New York Giants and hopeless Minnesota Vikings. Already down their rookie quarterback, the Vikings will turn once again to a backup — Sam Darnold.
Nobody is less thrilled in the league by this news than Justin Jefferson, mainly because it makes the Giants’ efforts on defense a little easier. Their main goal is keeping Jefferson out of the end zone, something we are eyeing on Pick6.
The Giants have a healthy and rather disruptive pass rush. The Vikings are starting a shaky journeyman quarterback whose best weapon will be under wraps. The Giants are going to attack Jefferson on multiple levels but first do their best to negate deep plays. The easiest way to do that is prevent Darnold from holding the ball with pressure up front.
It’s going to be a long day for Darnold under extreme pressure from the Giants defensive line. Even if Jefferson breaks something, it’s going to be with enough field for the Giants to recover. Darnold should be actively using tight end and running back options, as Jefferson will be limited — at least kept out of the end zone.
DraftKings Pick6 Prediction: Justin Jefferson Less Than 0.5 Total Touchdowns
James Cook M/L Than 0.5 Total Touchdowns
We are going with another Week 1 look at an anytime touchdown, in this case with the Bills. James Cook will carry the majority of the workload as the Bills take on an underrated defensive squad in Arizona. The Cardinals dealt with plenty of injuries, but they are well coached and are tough on defense. Keeping Cook limited on the ground and out of the end zone will no doubt be a top priority. Buffalo moved on from its top receiver, so Arizona head coach Jonathan Gannon might test Josh Allen’s arm early by loading up some of the box.
Of course, with Allen there are a couple of factors that play into why Cook would be limited. Allen is a massive touchdown vulture as the team gets closer to the goal line. Allen will call his own number or scramble off a quick pass play, enough to take away looks from Cook. The latter is not the only back in the rotation either, so depending on how drives play out Cook may not be on the field in those short-yardage goal line situations. There are just better options to score today for Buffalo.
