We are inching closer to the halfway point of a 17-game NFL schedule, and the league remains overflowing with drama. Each game provides its own, but the big-picture stories feature an undefeated Minnesota Vikings team down to a Dallas Cowboys team unable to figure much out. We target a pair of plays in the later frame for NFL DraftKings Pick6 predictions today. Unlike the rest of the pick’em spots, we target more of a pivot to the field than anywhere else. Chuba Hubbard M/L Than 69.5 Rushing Yards
The good news is Chuba Hubbard cleared 69.5 yards in four straight games. The even better news is the Panthers trailed and lost the last three.
Despite a negative game script the Panthers are treating Hubbard like a massive game breaker on the ground — in other words, he’s getting the ball even in second half losses.
Panthers games have a knack for going over as they are giving up points on defense, primarily through their own undoing. Not many teams are blitzing as much as Carolina, yet few have less success actually getting to the quarterback. Add that along with any game against a team like Washington — generating a ton of scoring chances on their own — and there should be plenty of chances for Hubbard to touch the ball, even in the second half, even in a losing effort.
There’s still the chance both teams will slow it down, which also benefits the Panthers work horse. Hubbard decimated this projection over this four-game stretch, hitting 90-plus in each of those contests. He’s more than capable of carrying a heavier load in a lower-scoring game, as he’s able to break a longer run with his team down big in the fourth.
DraftKings Pick6 Prediction: Chuba Hubbard More Than 69.5 Rushing Yards
Kareem Hunt M/L 0.5 Rushing & Receiving Touchdowns
Part of our strategy on DraftKings Pick6 is identifying a good spot to fade the field. After taking the majority of work in the Chiefs backfield against the Saints, Hunt should do it again. The Chiefs are short dogs on the road against the 49ers and need more than just Hunt to stay in this football game. The 49ers are fully aware of this Chiefs team from dealing with Patrick Mahomes, and the plan may be selling out to stop the run. It’s not the easiest matchup for the Chiefs backs as is, but it gets a little more complicated after the bye.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire is set to return and finally start contributing to the team. Part of Hunt’s massive carry load came at the expense of Edwards-Helaire not playing a down, still on a slow road back. But Andy Reid and the Chiefs are confident — at least all indications say — that Hunt will have some help in the backfield. The goal line and red zone become a little murkier to read, as there’s no clear indication Hunt will get those touches — especially in the passing game with a healthy Edwards-Helaire.
Let people race to the Pick6 window to slam down a Hunt anytime touchdown. We are taking the more reasonable approach in the matchup and additional help make it hard to trust Hunt.
