The Patriots have been a disaster. Sitting at 3-10, they’ve somehow eked out three wins against the Bengals, Jets and Bears, but they’re struggling. The Bengals have fallen apart, the Jets are a mess and the Bears … well, they’re the Bears. New England is 29th in yards per play, and while rookie quarterback Drake Maye might have potential, it’s not clicking yet.
Now the Patriots head on the road to face an Arizona team that’s better than its recent three-game losing streak suggests. Those losses were at Seattle, at Minnesota by a single point and then a home loss to Seattle again. These are quality opponents, and before that stretch, Arizona won four straight games, including blowout victories over the Bears and Jets.
The Cardinals’ strength lies in their ability to run the ball. They’re third in the league in yards per rush and top 10 in overall yards per play. Kyler Murray has been better than expected, and this team is built to punish weaker opponents like the Patriots.
Defensively, Arizona has no glaring weaknesses. It has played a tough schedule, facing the Bills, Lions and Packers on the road. But at home, against a Patriots offense that can’t move the ball, the Cardinals should dominate.
I’m taking Cardinals -6 at -110. Anything inside a touchdown works for me, and I expect Arizona to bounce back in a big way.
