Geno Smith Thanksgiving Injury Update

The Seattle Seahawks could be without their starting quarterback for a crucial Thursday Night Football game against their division rivals, the San Francisco 49ers. Geno Smith has been dealing with a right elbow injury. He was estimated as a non-participant on Monday because Seattle held a walkthrough, but he worked up to limited reps on Tuesday before ultimately picking up the questionable tag on Wednesday. Fortunately, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo expects Smith to suit up.

Smith has mostly avoided the injury report this year, but last Sunday’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams saw him exit briefly before returning to lead what could’ve been the game-winning drive but for a missed field goal. Smith took two sacks for a loss of 13 yards in the game. He suffered the elbow injury after taking a hit from Aaron Donald late in the third quarter while the Seahawks still possessed a double-digit lead.

Is Geno Smith Playing for Seattle on Thursday?

So is Geno Smith playing for Seattle on Thanksgiving Thursday? Probably. Garafolo’s report that Smith is trending in the right direction is a good sign, and we can see it reflected in his progression from a DNP on Monday to a limited participant on Tuesday. Still, the injury is to his throwing arm, so he could be limited even if he does play. Smith was able to complete three of his four pass attempts after returning to last Sunday’s game, but he likely had the benefit of adrenaline dulling his elbow pain. It remains unclear how close to 100% Smith will be at come Thursday.

With Walker likely out and Smith questionable, the Seahawks are a full 7-point home underdog at bet365. Smith’s passing yardage prop sits at 240.5, which he cleared in last year’s Wild Card game against the 49ers but in neither of their regular-season meetings. Smith recorded passing yardage totals of 197, 238 and 253 against them, respectively, adding three touchdowns and two interceptions.

If you’re skeptical of Smith’s ability to get the ball downfield on Thursday — or you think backup Drew Lock could step in if it devolves into a blowout early — consider playing Smith’s under at bet365. If you’re new to bet365, you can get $150 in bets after betting $5 — or up to $1,000 in bonus bets back if your first wager loses — and if you’re a Louisiana resident, you can take advantage of the sportsbook’s recent launch for $365 in bonus bets after betting $1!
