The Jacksonville Jaguars begin a two-game series in London this weekend. They’ll line up against the Atlanta Falcons first, and while I don’t expect a ton of scoring in this one (I have a total bet you can read about here), I do have faith in one player. The Atlanta Falcons have a talented secondary. Cornerback A.J. Terrell can lock down boundary receivers. Safety Jessie Bates III has provided considerable help over the top. However, the Falcons remain somewhat vulnerable to tight ends due to their lack of coverage linebackers. Atlanta has coughed up 157 receiving yards, 18 receptions and two scores to the position.

It’s not like the Falcons have faced good tight ends, either. Hayden Hurst caught five passes for 41 yards and a score in Week 1. Rookie Luke Musgrave caught two for 25 in Week 2. Rookie Sam LaPorta went off and caught eight for 84 yards and a score in Week 3. The Falcons now draw a matchup with the athletic Evan Engram, who should see an uptick in volume with Zay Jones out.
The books have set Engram’s receiving yardage total at either 46.5 or 48.5. We can buy the over 46.5 at just -106 via Caesars Sportsbook, which is the best deal on the market. Engram has gone over this number in all three of his games this year and is averaging 57.7 per game. He is averaging 47 per game with the Jaguars. Back him to get the job done on Sunday morning.

Are we doubling down on Evan Engram here? You betcha. Engram’s anytime touchdown scorer odds range from +320 at FanDuel to +180 at BetMGM. That seems inefficient, right? Pinnacle, a sharp book, lists him at odds of only +228. If you do the math on the implied probability, we’re getting a 6.7% edge over FanDuel relative to Pinnacle. Let’s take advantage of the market’s inability to settle on a number.
Engrams’ odds of finding paydirt increase dramatically with Zay Jones off the field. Jones, a big-bodied boundary receiver, has drawn five red-zone targets from Trevor Lawrence — 50% of Jacksonville’s total. Last year, Jones drew 23.7% of the team’s total red-zone targets. Engram ranked fourth on the Jags with 10.5%, but third-ranked Marvin Jones (14.5%) is also gone.

Again, the Falcons have underperformed against tight ends, allowing scores to both Hayden Hurst and Sam LaPorta. Engram is more of an athletic receiving tight end than either of them, so the defense may handle him differently, but Engram should be a red-zone threat in London.
