The Commanders had an injury scare late in Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. One of their starting wide receivers went down with an ankle injury. So is Jahan Dotson playing this week? He has been a limited participant in practice thus far. Let’s look at the most recent Jahan Dotson injury updates as we assess whether he will be available against the Bears in Week 5.
Jahan Dotson Injury Update: Is Washington’s Receiver Playing Thursday?
Jahan Dotson Injury Update
The Commanders were without wide receiver Jahan Dotson for lots of snaps on Sunday. Dotson went down with an ankle injury early in the game, but he managed to return late, and he even caught the game-tying touchdown pass that sent it to overtime. But because the Commanders are on a short week, it’s important to analyze the injury instead of just assuming he is good to go.
Dotson logged limited practice sessions on Monday (which was a walkthrough, so the limited tag was an estimate) and Tuesday. Dotson’s limited participation doesn’t doom him to missing Thursday’s game — in fact, it’s a pretty normal occurrence on a short week. It’s likely that Dotson will pick up a questionable tag he’ll ultimately play through.

Is Aaron Jones Playing for Washington in Week 5?
So is Jahan Dotson playing for Washington in Week 5? All signs point to yes. Dotson’s late-game return against the Eagles was a good sign, as was his ability to get back on the field — albeit in a limited capacity — in this week of practice. While we likely won’t know Dotson’s status for sure until Thursday (he could clear Wednesday’s injury report entirely, but I doubt it), he should suit up for Thursday Night Football.
The Commanders are somewhat pressed for depth at wide receiver currently. Dotson and Curtis Samuel are both dealing with injuries. Samuel was even estimated as a non-participant on Monday, which puts his status in more doubt than Dotson’s. The Commanders have Terry McLaurin as a sure-thing WR1, but behind Dotson and Samuel, they have shaky options in Dyami Brown, Jamison Crowder and Byron Pringle.
