Jets-Browns First Touchdown Picks for Week 17 Thursday Night Football

Joe Flacco‘s revenge game. It certainly sounds better than drumming up reasons how the New York Jets can hang in Cleveland with the Browns. Whether or not Flacco harbors any resentment towards one of his old teams is inconsequential. The Jets are cooked, eliminated from postseason contention. The Browns won three straight but are only one game ahead of Buffalo in the No. 5 seed. The AFC is still in flux, but Cleveland has a shot with a tough defense and Flacco’s play. Someone’s going to score first, so here are the best Jets-Browns first touchdown bets!

Jets-Browns TNF First Touchdown Picks

New York Jets Touchdown Scorer

The Jets are winners of two of their last three games, one of those coming against the Texans. Granted, C.J. Stroud left late with a concussion, but they still managed to destroy what was left of Houston. From there, they knocked off the Commanders before losing 30-0 to Miami — what a ride. Their defense and Breece Hall are the main reasons why this team will win or stay in games — Hall coming off a two-touchdown game despite the defense giving up 28 points.

Cleveland is going to be a ridiculous test for the Trevor Siemian offense, so finding value outside of Hall is going to be tough. The numbers are there but not from a realistic standpoint — not with a guy in Siemian who needed 49 attempts to hit 217 passing yards and just one touchdown in the air. Because the Jets are terrible overall, the first touchdown number for Hall is still somewhat appealing. Thanks to OddsShopper, we find Hall sitting at 8-1. It’s not crazy to imagine the Jets defense getting an early stop or even a turnover, setting up a short field. Hall is the workhorse no matter how long this game may stay scoreless.

OddsShopper’s betting model found another pricing disparity in the odds from this Jets-Browns game. Elijah Moore is -110 on bet365 to stay exceed 31.5 yards receiving, which is below the True Odds of -120 and far below the -140 odds at Pinnacle, a sharp book. That makes this wager on Moore a +EV Bet by 4%. For the rest of our model’s projections — more than just the NBA — subscribe to OddsShopper Premium!

Cleveland Browns First Touchdown Scorer

Nobody has connected more in the end zone with Joe Flacco than tight end David Njoku. Njoku is Flacco’s favorite target for a score, with nearly as many touchdowns as the rest of the pass catchers combined. The Browns star tight end has a touchdown in three straight games and four overall, compared to the six thrown elsewhere by Flacco. Don’t think the Jets are going to start slowing him down now, as they haven’t fared well against this position with linebackers.

Looking at OddsShopper, there’s a 7-1 play on FanDuel for Njoku to score first. He’s going to be the top red zone target even over Amari Cooper and can take advantage of any extra coverage up top on Cooper. There aren’t many linebackers and safeties equipped to keep Njoku out of the end zone; don’t expect that to change tonight at home. He’s Flacco’s favorite target for a reason — results. Take him here at +700 to score first.
