Joe Mixon Injury Update: Is Cincinnati’s Star Playing Sunday?

Joe Mixon Injury Update

The Cincinnati Bengals got some troubling news earlier in the week when Joe Mixon landed on the injury report as a limited participant in practice. Mixon has been dealing with a chest injury, but it wasn’t severe enough to limit him during the rest of the week. He logged full practice sessions on Thursday and Friday.

But even though Mixon was able to practice fully through the back end of the week, head coach Zac Taylor handed him a questionable tag. When explaining the decision to reporters, Taylor said of Mixon that “[h]e’ll be good. He was just sore.” So despite the questionable tag, Bengals fans and prospective Bengals bettors should expect to see the star running back.

Is Joe Mixon Playing for Cincinnati Sunday?

So is Joe Mixon playing for the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday? If you’re willing to take head coach Zac Taylor at face value, then yes. Mixon is expected to play through whatever chest ailment bothered him on Wednesday. Mixon gives the Bengals a much more potent threat out of the backfield than they would’ve had with either Trayveon Williams or Chris Evans toting the rock.

The market has pretty much settled for this game, as neither side has any major injury question marks. The Bengals are trading as a 2.5-point home favorite at bet365 for their date with the Bills, which will be the third time these teams have started a game against each other this calendar year. The first one was canceled, and Cincinnati won the second by 17, with Mixon adding 105 yards on 20 carries.

Mixon’s rushing yardage prop was trading at 62.5 with both sides priced at -110 at bet365 on Saturday afternoon. If you’re not worried about the risk of re-injury, a wager on the over could prove sharp — especially after what we saw Mixon do against the Bills last year. if you’re new to bet365, you can get $150 in bets after betting $5 — or up to $1,000 in bonus bets back if your first wager loses.
