The Chicago Bears made their decision to stick with Justin Fields as their quarterback of the future. It was always the likeliest scenario that the Bears would trade the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft to one of the many QB-needy teams in the league. On Friday, it was announced that the Bears agreed to trade the pick to the Carolina Panthers for a haul bringing them star receiver D.J. Moore. Since the move, the Justin Fields MVP bets have been coming in from all over the country.
Justin Fields MVP Bets Pouring in After Panthers-Bears Trade
Per BetMGM data analyst John Ewing, Justin Fields MVP bets have taken over since the trade was made official. Per the report, 42% of bets (most) are on Fields (+2500 at BetMGM).
Fields completed his second season under center for the Bears, starting 15 games. He showed some promise with his elite running ability, but still struggled in the air attack. Fields completed just 60.4% of passes, throwing for 17 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. His 1,143 rushing yards set a Bears single-season record for a quarterback.
“I thought Justin did a good job,” Bears general manager Ryan Poles said during his end-of-season press conference, per the team’s website. “I thought we changed a lot, we adapted, we tried to put him in a position to be successful. He showed the ability to be a playmaker, be impactful. He can change games quickly. Does he have room to grow? He does. He has to get better as a passer, and I’m excited to see him take those steps as we move forward.”
Now, Poles and the Bears brass have made the decision to move forward with Fields as their quarterback, and he’ll have a new No. 1 receiver in D.J. Moore to help shore up a position that the Bears saw little production from during the 2022-23 season. The team will hope they can continue to build around Fields’ talents, ultimately helping him make a significant leap in Year 3.
If the Justin Fields MVP bets are any indication, a lot of fans are expecting a big year from the Bears quarterback next season.
