Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson will be staying put, after all. Jackson and the team’s front office have struggled to reach an agreement when negotiating a potential contract extension over the last couple of years. But just before the NFL Draft on Thursday night, the team announced that they have finally reached a five-year contract extension with Jackson. The Ravens Super Bowl odds immediately spiked after the news hit the web.

Ravens Super Bowl Odds Rise After Lamar Jackson Contract Extension
The Lamar Jackson contract extension comes as good news for Ravens fans, as they now know the former MVP will be their QB1 for the forseeable future. But the breakthrough has immediate ramiications, as well. Per BetMGM, the Ravens Super Bowl odds jumped up from +3000 to +2200 after the extension was announced. Baltimore is now behind just the Kansas City Chiefs (+650), Buffalo Bills (+850), Cincinnati Bengals (+900), Philadelphia Eagles (+900), San Francisco 49ers (+900), New York Jets (+1400), Dallas Cowboys (+1600) and Detroit Lions (+2000).
Per ESPN, the deal is worth up $260 Million, with $185 Million in guaranteed money over the next five years. The $52 million per year makes Jackson the highest-paid player in the NFL.
The dual-threat quarterback requested a trade earlier in the offseason with extension talks continuing to stall.
“For the last few months, there has been a lot of he said, she said,” Jackson said in a video posted by the Ravens on their Twitter account. “A lot of nail-biting. A lot of head-scratching going on.”
Jackson, the 2019 MVP, has been one of the most domiannt players in the NFL for the last handful of years. But he has struggled with injuries, most recently a knee injury that kept him out for a bulk of the 2022-23 season. He had 20 total touchdowns and seven interceptions, leading the Ravens to an 8-4 record before going down in Week 14. The team would go on to lose in the first round of the playoffs to the Cincinnati Bengals
The Ravens showed with the Lamar Jackson extension that they are still in win-now mode. And the Ravens Super Bowl odds indicate they now have a much better chance then they did before locking up Jackson this afternoon.
