Micah Parsons (+600) exploded onto the scene in 2021 for the Dallas Cowboys. The former first round pick has consistently put pressure on NFL offenses in his first two years in the league. Parsons posted 13 sacks in 2021 and 13.5 a year ago. He also chipped in three forced fumbles and 42 solo tackles in 2022. Those numbers and the stature of the Cowboys’ defense has vaulted Parsons to the top of the Defensive Player of the Year odds. He is 6:1 to win the hardware heading into the NFL preseason.

Myles Garrett (+750) and T.J. Watt (+850) rank just below Parsons on this NFL futures odds board. Garrett has become a model of consistency and success heading into his seventh NFL season. He has overcome behavioral issues surrounding his early career brawl and has seen his stock soar, posting double-digit sacks in every season since 2018. T.J. Watt had a similar statistical output to Garrett prior to last year. Watt struggled through injury issues in 2022, playing in just ten games and posting 5.5 sacks. He did win the Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2021, which is buoying his DPOY odds to 8.5:1 heading into this year.

Nick Bosa (+1200), Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner (+1500) and Maxx Crosby (+1600) are the only players below 25:1 on this NFL futures odds board. Gardner is the only defensive back in the top ten  of the DPOY odds market. The last time a cornerback won the award was Stephen Gilmore who took down the DPOY hardware in 2019.

Aaron Donald is the most familiar name at the top of the DPOY odds. The veteran and potential future Hall of Famer has won NFL Defensive Player of the year three times, including back-to-back awards in 2017 and 2018. Donald also won the hardware in 2020. His status and stature in the league could push him over the top if he can return to his past success as a younger player.
