Last week went off without a hitch as all three of our survivor pool pick recommendations came out on top. This week, we have three more teams that each present a strong case. While some of these teams may not be available to you, if any of them are, I hope we can help you secure another win. Let’s dive into my top NFL survivor pool picks for Week 16!
NFL Survivor Pool Picks Week 16: Bengals, Bills or Packers?
Bengals -7.5 vs. Browns | NFL Survivor Pool Picks Week 16
The Jameis Winston era has come to an end in Cleveland – at least for this upcoming week. Head coach Kevin Stefanski announced that Dorian Thompson-Robinson will start in the Browns’ upcoming game against the Bengals. Winston struggled mightily over his last four games, throwing 9 interceptions to just 6 touchdowns.
Interestingly, DTR’s most significant action this season also came against the Bengals in October. In that game, he completed 11 of 24 passes for 82 yards and two interceptions while adding 44 yards on three rushes.
While the bar isn’t set high to outperform Winston, the matchup offers some optimism. The Bengals’ defense ranks 30th in success rate and 29th in EPA per play allowed, presenting a chance for DTR to inject some life into Cleveland’s offense – provided he can limit turnovers.
On the other side, the Bengals are building momentum. After road wins over the Cowboys and Titans, Cincinnati can notch its first three-game winning streak of the season with a victory over their division rival.
Despite the lack of wins, Joe Burrow is playing at an MVP level. Over his last three games, he has thrown 9 touchdowns to 4 interceptions, fueling the team’s recent surge.
Even with the quarterback switch, the Browns likely won’t have enough firepower to keep up with the Bengals’ prolific offense.
Bills -14 vs. Patriots | NFL Survivor Week 16
This game appears to be a “layup” for survivor contest picks, but there’s a good chance most remaining players don’t have the Buffalo Bills available.
If you’re one of the lucky few who do, you’re probably feeling pretty confident. Buffalo is coming off its signature win of the season, a 48-42 victory over the Detroit Lions last Sunday.
The Bills have now scored 30 or more points in eight straight games, and there’s a solid chance they extend that streak to 9 against a New England Patriots defense ranked 30th in EPA per play allowed.
Offensively, the Patriots have their moments. Rookie quarterback Drake Maye offers a glimmer of hope, but it’s not enough to overcome the team’s broader weaknesses.
The Bills won’t overlook their division rival. They’ll handle business and cruise to a win over New England.
Packers -14.5 vs. Saints | NFL Survivor Week 16
Our official selection this week involves another favorite of 14+ points, but this team’s availability is far more realistic in survivor contests compared to the Bills.
Whether it’s pretty or not, the Green Bay Packers keep finding ways to win. They’re 10-4 and have won three of their last four games, with the only loss coming on a game-winning overtime field goal in Detroit.
This week, they’ll host a dismantled New Orleans Saints squad with plenty of uncertainties – most notably at quarterback. With Derek Carr missing last week’s game, interim head coach Darren Rizzi turned to Jake Haener. That decision didn’t last long, as Haener was benched midway through the game after completing just 4 of 10 passes for 49 yards and throwing an interception.
Spencer Rattler took over and fared slightly better, finishing 10 of 21 for 135 yards and a touchdown. The decision of which quarterback Rizzi chooses to start is irrelevant. The Packers are the far superior team and cement themselves as the top survivor pick for Week 16.
