Panthers-Bears Anytime Touchdown Scorer Bet for Week 5

The Carolina Panthers will take on the Chicago Bears in what’s expected to be a reasonably tight game. The Bears are a slight four-point home favorite for this one, and I like them for several trips to the red zone.
Once they get there, it’s obvious who head coach Matt Eberflus should give the football. D’Andre Swift has three red-zone carries for… -7 rushing yards. Meanwhile, second-year running back Roschon Johnson has 10 yards and a score on four.
That’s a new trend. In Weeks 1 and 2, Johnson didn’t have a red-zone carry. He has gotten two of them in both of his last two games, which is something we’ll hope continues this week.
The defensive matchup is a huge part of why we’re targeting Johnson. The Panthers are soft against the run, coughing up the second-most total yards to running backs along with the second-most rushing touchdowns to them.

Raiders-Broncos Anytime Touchdown Scorer Bet for Week 5

Denver Broncos running back Javonte Williams has yet to find the end zone this season. Through the first three games, he struggled with just 24 carries, 52 yards, averaging 2.3 yards per carry. Finally, he broke out last week against the Jets, running the ball 16 times for 77 yards (4.8 YPC).
His upcoming opponent, the Las Vegas Raiders, rank 26th in defensive rush EPA and are allowing 5.1 yards per carry to opposing running backs. They’ve also surrendered three rushing touchdowns this season.
Williams has been unlucky in several red zone opportunities, with quarterback Bo Nix rushing for a few touchdowns and backup running back Jaleel McLaughlin taking some snaps.
However, after his strong performance last week, the Broncos are likely to trust Williams more, especially against a weaker run defense. The team has already been emphasizing him in short-yardage situations, so expect him to get more opportunities near the goal line.
In addition to the favorable matchup for Williams, this bet is also attractive due to the value in the plus-priced odds. While it’s not surprising given that he has yet to score this season, it presents an opportunity to capitalize on appealing odds following his best performance of the year.

Packers-Rams Anytime Touchdown Scorer Bet for Week 5
Pick by Danny Burke.
Here I am again, pleading with Josh Jacobs to finally cross the plane and score six. He has yet to score his first touchdown as a member of the Green Bay Packers. However, this Sunday presents a quality opportunity for him to do so. There is no doubt that Jacobs is the go-to running back in the red zone for the Packers — he completely dominates the snap count over his backups. PFF attributes Jacobs with 2.4 expected touchdowns this year despite having none.
Those expectations may turn to reality against a Los Angeles Rams run defense that sits 31st in defensive rush success rate and 30th in defensive rush EPA. The Rams are allowing opposing tailbacks five yards per carry and 1.3 rushing touchdowns per game.
Much like last week, the Rams’ defense is still very banged up. In last week’s game, they allowed two rushing touchdowns to the Chicago Bears. Plus, the Packers are having some issues throughout their receiving corps, with an injury to Christian Watson and some off-field drama revolving around Romeo Doubs.
I imagine Green Bay will emphasize Jacob’s usage in these crucial situations, making the -130 price seem not as unappetizing as it would normally be for this type of wager.

Browns-Commanders Anytime Touchdown Scorer Bet for Week 5
Look, nobody wants to bet on the Cleveland Browns or Deshaun Watson, especially not right now. Everyone wants to bet on the Washington Commanders and star rookie Jayden Daniels. We’re going to trust the Browns anyway.
The Commanders are only a three-point home favorite because of their atrocious defense. The Commanders have given up the seventh-most yards to wide receivers — along with the most touchdowns (10). That’s the most in the NFL by three.
The Browns haven’t gotten the ball close to the goal line often this season, but when they have, it’s been a healthy mix of receivers hearing their names called. Amari Cooper and Jerry Jeudy both have exactly three red-zone targets.
I like Jeudy at his odds of +260 at BetMGM, especially with Cooper trading for south of +200. However, Jeudy has a 100% route participation rate to this point. We just need him to take one of those routes to the house versus a bad defense.
