Patrick Mahomes Interception Prop Getting Heavy Attention

Per BetMGM‘s John Ewing, the Patrick Mahomes interception prop (o/u 0.5 on BetMGM) is the third-highest prop bet taken on the Super Bowl thus far. 99% of bets are on the OVER 0.5 interceptions from Mahomes, with many believing an opportunistic Eagles defense will take one away at some point in the game.

Mahomes has not thrown an interception in either of the Chiefs’ wins in the NFL Playoffs and is coming off completing 29 of 43 passes for 326 yards and two touchdowns in the 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship. But he was no stranger to throwing some picks in the regular season. Despite leading the league in passing yards and passing touchdowns, he was also ninth in the league in interceptions thrown during the regular season (12).

The Eagles defense is tied for third in the NFL with 17 regular-season interceptions and should have some opportunities to frustrate Mahomes with their elite defensive front, which could open the door for the secondary to capitalize.

Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain in the win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Divisional Round and was sporting a significant limp in the win over the Bengals. Of course, that didn’t stop the MVP from dropping dimes all over the field, but the Eagles’ defense poses a different obstacle if the quarterback’s mobility remains compromised.

“You won’t know exactly how it is until you get to game day,” he said, per ESPN. “I mean, I definitely move around better than I was moving last week or two weeks ago. So, it’s just trying to continue to get the treatment and the rehab and get it as close to 100% and then rely on some adrenaline to let me do a little bit extra when I’m on the field.”

The Chiefs-Eagles Super Bowl prop bets are flying in. And even though very few would be surprised if the Chiefs’ potent offense has its moments against a tough Eagles defense, the Patrick Mahomes interception prop bettors are banking on at least one mistake during the course of Super Bowl 57.
